Airports
Arlanda airport for both international and domestic flights is situated 45
km north of Stockholm.
Bromma airport for domestic flights, is located 8 km west of the city. Skavsta airport for domestic flights and flights to London, is situated 100
km south of Stockholm
Airport buses and Taxi service
Airport buses to and from Arlanda and Bromma Airports leave from
the City
Terminal at the Klaraberg viaduct near the Central Station.
Departures every 10 or 15 minute (approx. SEK 90).
You can also take the Arlanda Express Train to and from the airport.
The
Express Train departs from the Central Station.
Airport taxi van service is available 24 hours a day.
A number of different
taxi companies operate in Stockholm and their rates
can vary. To be on the safe side, use only the established taxi companies:
Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Kurir or Taxi 020. Please note that there are fixed
rates to and from Stockholm-Arlanda (approx. SEK 400). All major credit
cards are accepted.
Public Transportation
Stockholm's public transportation system is punctual and reliable. You can
travel by
T-banan- the underground, commuter trains and buses.
The SL transportation card for 24 and 72 hours is good for unlimited travel
in the county of Stockholm and can be purchased at Tourist Information
Offices, SL Ticket Offices and Pressbyrån kiosks. Underground stations can
be identified by signs with a blue T on a white background.
Conference hotels
Three conference hotels of good standard, all located in the very centre of Stockholm
close to the airport connection, will be used for room reservations.
A low cost hotel and located at about 15 minutes by subway from city centre, will also be made available.
Transport to Karolinska institute
A bus that stops just outside one of the three hotels will take you directly to, and back from, Karolinska Institute.
It will take you about 30 minutes to walk from the hotel to the Karolinska Institute.
Climate
In the month of July the weather in Sweden is usually warm and sunny. The
sun doesn't set until around 10 pm and the average daytime temperature is
around 20-22°C (70-73°F).
The city of Stockholm is built on water and the water is clean enough for
swimming in downtown Stockholm. The evenings might get chilly, around 18°C
(60°F), and there might be some rain as well, so we recommend bringing a
rain coat and warm sweater.

A value-added tax (VAT) is levied on most goods and services at a standard
rate of 25%
and is included in all retail prices

Sweden has 220 volt current, razors 110 volt only

100 öre = 1 krona (crown) / SEK
Denominations of bank notes: 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000
Coins; 50 öre, 1, 5 and 10 kronor (crowns)
Foreign bank notes and traveler's cheques can be converted into
Swedish
Crowns at
most banks and post offices.
1 USD is equivalent to approx. 7 Swedish Crowns and
1 Euro is equivalent to approx. 9 Swedish Crowns as of november 2004
Credit Cards
All international credit cards such as Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American
Express and
Diners Club are widely accepted at all major hotels, stores, restaurants and
most
established taxi companies. You may be requested to show your passport as
identification.
Visas
Sweden is a member of the EU, but nevertheless, a valid passport is required
to enter
the country. Please check individual requirements with regard to visas.
