2 Post doc positions
The Medical Faculty at Umeå University is an organization for education and research groups in the fields of medicine, odontology and health care. We have 13 departments and 12 academic programmes. Within the faculty there are about 3 000 undergraduate and 500 postgraduate students. We have about 1 100 employed persons, among them about 550 teachers/researchers. Gender research is developed in a creative environment, in which Umeå Centre for Gender Studies in Medicine is cooperating with the other strong gender research environments at the university, through Umeå Centre for Gender Excellence – financed by the Swedish Research Council.
1 Post doc position in public health
At the Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine social epidemiological research is carried out with special focus on the public health consequences of gender equality in the domestic sphere as well as in the working sphere from a life course perspective. The research is interdisciplinary and covers the entire field from medicine to sociology.
The post doc position aims at quantitative analyses of the Northern Swedish Cohort – a 27 year follow up of school leavers with focus on labour market attachment, gender equality and health status.
Duties:
The holder of the position is expected to cooperate with researchers in the research group and conduct her/his own research within the cohort. Scientific publication in international refereed journals is the most central task. Other tasks are to be assistant supervisor for PhD students, to collect more data and work with the data base.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD level academic degree within the broad area of public health research, with focus on quantitative methods in epidemiology. Equivalent foreign degrees are also approved. PhD must have been obtained within a maximum of three years before the application deadline. The applicant must be able to read, write, speak and understand English unhindered. Knowledge of Swedish is not required.
Employment:
The position is full-time and for a fixed term of one year, followed by possibilities for employment during additionally 12 months. Salary follows the rules of the university, but may be adjusted based on the applicant’s individual merits and experiences.
Assessment criteria:
Particular attention will be given to the scientific skill documented by the applicants own research and scientific publishing. Attention will also be given to cooperation and communication skills, as well as with competence within the field of gender research as well as within the life course epidemiology.

1 Postdoktor i medicinsk vetenskap
Vid medicinska fakulteten bedrivs genusteoretisk kvantitativ och kvalitativ forskning. Ett forskningsprojekt utgår ifrån Centre of Gender Excellence och handlar om att utveckla ett jämställdhetsinstrument inom vården utifrån bland annat det sk tvättsäcksprojektet. Anställningen är tidsbegränsad till 12 månader med möjlighet till förlängning.
Huvudsakliga arbetsuppgifter:
Självständigt arbete i en tvärvetenskaplig forskarmiljö med att samla in data, analysera dessa kvantitativt och kvalitativt i samarbete med forskargruppen samt publicera resultaten i internationella referee bedömda tidskrifter.
Kompetenskrav:
Disputerad forskare inom medicinsk vetenskap (eller med motsvarande kompetens) med såväl kvantitativ som kvantitativ kompetens. Genusteoretisk kompetens. Den sökande ska obehindrat kunna tala, läsa, förstå och skriva engelska och svenska.
Behörig att anställas som postdoktor är den som har avlagt doktorsexamen högst tre år innan ansökningstidens utgång.
Önskvärda kvalifikationer:
Dokumenterade erfarenheter av jämställdhetsarbete. God samarbetsförmåga.
