Postdoctoral fellow

Finite Element Methods

The successful applicant is expected to pursue research in the area of finite element methods with applications in solid and fluid mechanics. The applicant is expected to be part of the computational mathematics research group that focuses on development of novel finite element methods, in particular, adaptive methods for multiscale and multiphysics problems, with applications in science and engineering. The research activities are interdisciplinary and involve the combination of mathematics, computer science, and applications. See www.math.umu.se/cm for further information.

The position is for a time period of one year with a possible prolongation for another period of one year. The post-doc will be based at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

To qualify for the position you need a PhD degree in mathematics, computer science, or engineering, preferably not older than three years. Furthermore, the successful candidate should have a strong background in finite elements and excellent programming skills with experience in C++, Matlab, and parallel programming, as well as excellent communication skills.
